Kramer Alberti Records Fourth Straight PTAB Clean Sweep, Securing Three IPR Victories for Client RightQuestion, LLC Against AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Nokia

August 28, 2025

The recent IPR Victories for RightQuestion, LLC Mark the Firm’s 15th Consecutive Victory in the PTAB

Continuing its series of victories enforcing its clients’ patents, Kramer Alberti secured three important wins in inter partes review proceedings in the Patent Office for client RightQuestion, LLC. The firm won denial of institution on three IPR petitions filed by AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Nokia. This latest victory at the PTAB marked the 15th consecutive IPR win for Kramer Alberti and its clients in important and high-profile decisions.

RightQuestion was founded by pioneering inventor, Dr. Bjorn Markus Jakobsson, who developed technologies solving fundamental problems encountered by users of cell phones and telecommunications networks. His patented inventions provide innovative solutions for protecting consumers from fraudulent and unwanted calls, such as “spoofed” calls, spam calls, and robocalls. In February 2024, Jakobsson’s company, RightQuestion, LLC, filed patent infringement cases against telecommunication giants AT&T and Verizon in the federal court in Texas, asserting infringement of its patents, and seeking to prevent the continuing unauthorized use of its technologies.  AT&T and Verizon, in turn, filed IPR challenges in the Patent Office seeking to invalidate RightQuestion’s patents. Kramer Alberti has now won denial of institution, clearing the way for RightQuestion, to go to trial against AT&T and Verizon in the federal court in Texas in October 2025.

“The rulings in the RightQuestion IPRs are two-fold. First, they validate our client’s patent legitimacy, and second, effectively close AT&T, Verizon and their co-petitioner’s misguided challenge to Dr. Jakobsson’s patents, clearing the way for the federal court trials that our team will conduct this fall in Texas,” stated Rob Kramer, lead counsel for RightQuestion. “Our team delivered a decisive victory for our client, and against some of the largest telecom companies,” continued Kramer Alberti partner Nicki Glauser.

Kramer Alberti attorneys and technical advisors representing RightQuestion in its U.S. District Court cases and IPR proceedings are: Nicki Glauser, Rob Kramer, Dave Alberti, Sal Lim, Robert Mattson, James Barabas, Russ Tonkovich, Curt Holbreich, Aidan Brewster, Michele Woodruff Lyons, Jeremiah Armstrong, Teri H.P. Nguyen, Kathi Cover, Robert Xie, and Greg Bosch. The IPRs are captioned in the Patent Office PTAB as IPR2025-00360 (Patent 10,674,009 B2),IPR2025-00361 (Patent 11,856,132 B2), and IPR2025-00362 (Patent 11,005,989 B2).

To secure the IPR victories for RightQuestion, LLC, Kramer Alberti co-counseled in the PTAB with attorneys from Lowenstein & Weatherwax LLP.  Opposing counsel representing AT&T and Verizon in the district court and in the PTAB is Duane Morris LLP.
