Zack knows patent litigation and monetization from every angle: on both sides of the table, as outside counsel and a former Kirkland & Ellis partner, in-house counsel, legal executive, investment banker, and broker, helping clients achieve victories ranging from Fortune 500 technology companies winning bet-the-company litigation to startups and solo inventors realizing life-changing settlements.

Zack has delivered > $1 billion in patent licensing revenue, sales, and risk reduction by building and managing all aspects of patent litigation, brokerage, and licensing campaigns. Zack also managed patent portfolios, acquisitions, and strategic prosecution to enhance ROI by identifying, improving, and enforcing the best patents in portfolios with hundreds to > 18,000 patents. Zack created claim construction, infringement, and validity arguments that won in the ITC, district court, and Federal Circuit; led licensing negotiations; and selected and managed litigation, prosecution, and post-grant counsel, including for trial and appeal. IAM recognized Zack in the 2021 edition of “IAM Strategy 300: The World’s Leading IP Strategists.”

A self-taught software engineer, Zack builds Artificial Intelligence neural networks to predict the technical categories of > 7 million patents, and writes Python code to automate patent analysis, process text and metadata to identify > 800 million key words in patents, and personally confirm the AI-predicted categories of > 230,000 patents. Zack develops deep technical proof by analyzing source code, communications revealed by developer tools, and captured packets.
